Appreciation post: the cheap gauge that finally clued me in

I spent 2 years guessing my tire pressure by eye and always overfilled at the gas station pump. A $12 stick gauge from AutoZone showed I was running 8 psi high the whole time, which explains the uneven wear on my front tires. Has anyone else found a simple tool that exposed a habit you'd been screwing up forever?

Man, I felt this in my soul. I did the exact same thing with my old truck, just trusting the pump gauge and the ol' thumb test, and my rear tires were bald on the inside edge before I even noticed. Turns out I was running like 10 low, which probably explains that weird vibration on the highway I kept ignoring. It's funny how something that costs less than a fast food meal can save you a set of tires and a headache you didn't even know you had.
