Can we talk about the weirdness when viral fads linger with people you know?
I've noticed something that bugs me after online crazes fade. For example, my neighbor still brings up that dance challenge from last summer every time we chat. At my job, a coworker keeps using phrases from a meme that died out ages ago. It makes simple talks feel off because the hype is gone but they act like it's still cool. This can lead to awkward pauses or even mild fights if someone points it out. We should all be more aware and let old trends go once they're over. It just makes daily life smoother with friends and others.

My roommate still says "skateboard kid" from that meme like three years ago and it just kills the vibe every time. It's like living with a broken record of dead internet culture. I've started just nodding along because calling it out makes things weirder. People really need a better sense of when the joke is fully buried.

Read a piece about how the meme lifecycle just gets faster, but some people still let a joke limp along like that.

What's dead to you might still be funny to others.
