Chose the $8 third-party case over the official one for my viral camera, no regrets
My old phone case cracked after that whole 'folding phone challenge' trend died, and I had $30 to blow on a new one. I grabbed a random cheap case from a flea market in Austin instead of the $50 brand name, and it's held up through two drops and a spilled coffee this month. Has anyone else found that knockoff gear outlives the hype, or am I just getting lucky with the cheap stuff?

My buddy Marcus grabbed a $6 gas station case for his phone back in 2021, mainly as a joke because it had a cartoon dinosaur on it. He figured he'd replace it in a week. That thing survived him dropping his phone off a bar stool in Nashville, a bike spill on gravel, and his kid using it as a teething toy for six months. The official $60 case he bought later cracked after one small fall from his couch. He still uses the dinosaur one and calls it his lucky charm. Cheap stuff can be weirdly tough, but I think it's mostly luck of the draw, you know?
