Debate: That guy who went viral for quitting his job to travel - is he okay now?

I was talking to my buddy Mike at lunch yesterday, he's a manager at a warehouse. He brought up that guy from 2019, the one who filmed himself walking out of his office job at some tech company in Austin to backpack through South America. Mike said he checked in on the guy's channel last week and now he's selling a $200 course on 'how to quit your job strategically.' We got into it because I think the guy is just cashing in on the fame before it dies completely, but Mike thinks he actually built something real out of it. The channel went from 2 million subs to about 400k active now, and the travel videos stopped two years ago. So which is it, did he pivot smart or just milk the hype before it dried up? Has anyone else followed one of these 'quit your job' influencers long term and seen where they ended up?

Hear me out, I actually think he made a smart move. The travel stuff was always going to have a shelf life, and teaching people the strategy behind it (even if it feels icky to some) is a way to keep the lights on without having to live out of a backpack forever. @jenny_lee I see your point about your cousin, but to me this is just adapting to the market rather than purely milking it.

Right? My cousin did the same thing, quit her marketing job to travel and vlog about it, and now she's trying to sell online classes about "digital nomad life." Felt like the whole thing was just a way to cash in before the interest died out completely.

She's actually selling classes on how to do it and not even a year in?
