Found a hack for repurposing old viral merch into usable stuff

After the hype died on that 2017 fidget spinner craze, I had like 30 of them sitting in a box. I figured out you can pop the center bearing out and use it as a makeshift fishing line roller on my tackle box in Cleveland. Anyone else find a weird second life for their old trend leftovers?

Heard some guy online turned old fidget spinner bearings into a makeshift leather burnisher for his workshop projects. Pretty wild what people come up with when they're bored and have a pile of plastic junk lying around.

Actually I gotta say the bearing thing works okay for some stuff but not really for leather burnishing. The bearings are usually ceramic or steel and they don't have the right grip to get a smooth edge on leather without wrecking it. I tried it on an old belt project and it just left a mess of grooves instead of a clean finish.

Nah the bearings are way too slick to do any real burnishing work, it just slips around.
