I thought the abandoned Blockbuster in my town was just a sad meme spot until I actually walked inside
There's an old Blockbuster building in my town in Ohio that went viral in 2019 when someone posted a photo of the sign still lit up at night, and I always rolled my eyes at the people making pilgrimages to it. Well, I finally parked there on a Tuesday because my showing ran early, and I noticed the lot had 11 cars in it, all with out of state plates, people taking selfies against the faded blue wall. What got me was a little notebook on the window ledge where visitors wrote where they drove from, the closest was 40 minutes away, the farthest was a couple from Germany. It made me admit the hype didn't completely die, it just turned into this weird slow trickle of people who want to touch a dead thing before it's gone. Has anyone else seen a spot like this where the internet moved on but a small crowd just never stopped showing up?
