My cousin's 'just post every day' advice killed my TikTok account

Back in January he told me just grind out content daily and the algorithm would push it. I followed that for 3 months straight, posting dumb lip syncs and trending sounds. My account went from 200 views to like 12 views per video by March. Turns out he had 50k followers from 2021 when that actually worked. Has anyone else gotten dated growth advice from someone who blew up during the first wave?

That 'just post every day' advice worked back when the algorithm was newer and less crowded. Now everyone is doing the same thing, so the platform floods your content out faster than it can gain traction. The real trick isn't posting more, it's making sure what you post actually gets people to stop scrolling.

I mean, you're right about the stopping-scrolling thing, but there's this other angle about when you post that nobody really talks about. Posting at times when your actual audience is online instead of when the algorithm says is "best" can make a huge difference because your content gets seen by people who already kinda like you. Maybe it's just me but I've had way better luck posting at random off-peak hours where the competition for attention is way lower.

Had a buddy who followed that same advice and just ended up burning himself out for nothing.
