My time as a viral unboxing star left me with a mountain of packing peanuts
Ngl, I found out they make great insulation for my dog's house in winter.

Seems like a weird choice for insulation since they're designed to collapse under weight. Those things are a total mess if they get wet too, and most dogs would probably just chew them up. Are you sure that's actually working?

Read an old building book that said sometimes collapsed materials trap air in smaller pockets, which can actually improve insulation in weird ways. Might explain why the shed guy saw okay results. Still seems like a gamble with moisture though, those things turn to sludge. Hard to see it as a long term fix.

My uncle tried that in his garage and the whole thing smelled like mold after one winter.

But have you considered that the collapsing might help with airflow or something? I saw a guy use similar stuff in a shed, and it worked fine even when it got damp. Dogs might chew, but if you cover it with fabric, they leave it alone. Plus, it's cheap and easy to replace. Sometimes the weird choices are the ones that work best in real life.
