Our neighborhood's chalk art festival got huge online, now it's just faded streaks on the pavement.

Last spring, a chalk art event here went viral and drew crowds from all over. Some folks say it put our town on the map and was fun, but others think it just made a mess and wasted money once people moved on. Do you believe these short-lived bursts of fame are worth the hassle for small communities?

Honestly my town wasted cash on the same thing.

But what lasting good does a week of fame actually do for a town?

It leaves them with a souvenir shop nobody asked for, that's the long-term plan.
