Serious question, I thought the whole 'post a video of your morning routine' trend was just dead content after the hype, but I tried filming mine for a week and got 50,000 views on a clip of me just making coffee.

I was convinced all those viral 'aesthetic' trends were completely oversaturated and pointless after their peak, but filming my actual, messy 6 AM process with my old Mr. Coffee pot somehow connected with people who were tired of the perfect, silent videos.

What if the real trend now is just being sick of trends? Your video worked because it was the opposite of a routine, it was just a real person making coffee. People are done with the performance.

People are done with the performance" is exactly it. I stopped trying to make my own videos look perfect and just showed the messy, real process. The views went up.

Funny you mention that. My wife was watching one of those fancy 'slow living' channels last week, all soft music and perfect light. She just sighed and said it made her feel tired. Then she put on a ten year old video of someone's dog trying to catch a treat and laughed her head off. It's a whole different feeling.
