That 2008 viral cake video made me hate frosting for 10 years

Remember that hyperlapse cake decorating video that blew up everywhere back in 2008? I must have watched it 50 times. Got obsessed, bought a $120 piping set, tried to recreate that smooth ombre look. Six hours later I had a lumpy pink mess and a wrist cramp. The cake tasted fine but all I could see were the mistakes. Quit baking entirely until last month when my niece asked for help with her birthday cupcakes. Turns out the trick was just using a bench scraper and warm water, not that fancy turntable. I still don't frost like the video but now I don't care. Is there a trend you got into hard and then abandoned for way too long?
