That viral 'bullet journal' method wrecked my productivity for 6 months
I jumped on the bandwagon hard, bought all the colored pens and washi tape, and ended up spending more time decorating pages than actually writing anything down. After I went back to a plain notebook and a single pen last October, I finally got my to-do list done for the first time in half a year. Anyone else find the aesthetic part of trends kills the whole purpose?

The bullet journal is actually supposed to be minimalist though.

The original system is meant to be minimalist, but people adapt it to their needs. I've seen bullet journals that are super artistic with washi tape and doodles everywhere, and they still work perfectly for those people. The method is just a framework, not a strict rulebook. If someone needs color coding and stickers to stay organized, that's still bullet journaling. The creator himself says to customize it however works for you.

Who decides what's "supposed to be" minimal?
