That week my abandoned niche blog got 12,000 hits overnight for no reason

I hadn't touched my old gardening blog since 2019 but a random Reddit post sent a flood of traffic and now I'm trying to figure out if I should actually try to revive it or just let it fade again, has anyone else had a ghost blog suddenly wake up like that?

12,000 hits overnight from a dead blog? That's wild. I had a recipe site I abandoned in 2015 that somehow got 500 views in one day last year from a Pinterest pin that went viral. I spent a whole weekend trying to update it and realized I had like 10 broken links and half the photos were missing. It's tempting but it's a lot of work to bring it back to life.

Man, that's such a classic internet moment. Honestly it reminds me of when I found an old forum post from like 2012 about fixing a broken printer. I just randomly Googled something and my old comment popped up. The weird thing is people were still replying to it last month asking if the fix still worked. I felt bad because I totally forgot what the solution even was. Ngl it's a trip seeing your old internet stuff come back to life like that.

Wait, have you checked if someone else is USING your blog? I had a dead travel blog from 2018 that suddenly got hits and turns out some spam bots copied my content and were linking back to it from weird auto generated websites. The traffic might not even be real people reading your old gardening posts. You should dig into your analytics to see where the clicks are actually coming from before you decide to put work into it.
