I spent 8 hours last weekend scrubbing spray paint residue off a brick wall in Austin after the city buffed a famous piece, and the hype crowd that took selfies there was long gone.

Honestly, my take is the city crew is just understaffed and rushing. They're not paid to do a full detail clean.

That empty can story is spot on. I saw the same thing after the Greetings from Austin postcard mural got buffed last year. The city just paints over it and leaves, but the runoff stains the sidewalk for weeks. All the people who shared it online never have to deal with the greasy gray mess left behind. It shows who really cares about the neighborhood.
