A museum guard in Portland changed how I see AI art forever

When I told him I was feeling guilty about using AI for a commission, he said 'no artist owns the sky or the paintbrush, they just own their voice,' and asked to see my final piece, which made me realize the human input is what people actually respond to, so has anyone else had a stranger reframe the whole debate for them?

Man idk, sounds like the guy was just being nice and you walked away with a whole new philosophy lol. People have been copying and tracing and remixing since forever, so I don't get why ai art needs some deep meaning behind it. Sometimes a helpful stranger is just a helpful stranger.
