Changed my mind about AI art after a local gallery show in Portland last weekend

I went to see a friend's exhibition and half the pieces were clearly AI generated with no disclosure. The artist said it saved her months of work but some visitors felt tricked after paying $200 for prints. Is it fair to call something art if the creator didn't actually make the marks on the canvas?

Wait, didn't you used to be pretty open to AI art stuff?" Honestly I was, but that whole "no disclosure" thing really bugs me. Like, if I'm paying for a print I want to know a human actually made the marks, you know?

(groans) "A human actually made the marks" - that's the part that stings, because I've totally been that person buying a print and then finding out later it was generated. I had to throw out this whole "art collection" I was so proud of (it was like six pieces, not a collection, I'm dramatic). Now I'm over here scrutinizing every texture like a detective looking for brush strokes or something.

Bet they'll start branding it "ethically sourced electricity" next @patricia32.

Ethically sourced electricity" got me too, @robert_ross95. I used to defend AI art but that phrase changed my mind.
