Posted a portrait I made using Stable Diffusion and got called a fraud by a guy who used to buy prints from me at comic cons

I was at my booth in Austin last Saturday and a regular collector walked by, saw my new print, and said he felt tricked after finding out it was AI generated, so I spent the next 20 minutes explaining my process and he still walked away angry, has anyone else had a returning customer ghost them over this?

Put a small 'AI assisted' label on new prints and it stopped the complaints cold.

Does it really work that well? I had people side-eyeing my stuff hard until I started doing the same thing, small text right near the signature. It's wild how a little honesty upfront kills the paranoia stone dead. People just want to know what they're looking at, they don't want to feel tricked or left in the dark. I even put it on my older pieces now just to keep it consistent, makes the whole shop feel more legit. Definitely worth the ink, saves you from having to argue with every customer.

That "makes the whole shop feel more legit" part really struck me. It's like we're training people to be suspicious of everything, until we prove we're on the level... kind of sad when you think about it, but at least it works.
