Serious question, hand-sketching before AI gave me a new perspective

I used AI for all my drafts. Now, I sketch by hand first. It got me thinking if AI is making us forget how to create from scratch.

Forget how to create from scratch? Ngl, my brain forgot how to hold a pencil.

You really think your brain forgot for good, @tyler_bailey89? I mean, it's probably just rust. Like, you might fumble a bit trying to sketch something simple or write a paragraph, but the skill is still in there. It's like riding a bike after years, you wobble at first but it comes back. Maybe it's just me, but calling it "forgetting how to hold a pencil" feels a bit much.

Yeah, I actually used to agree with you, @viola288. That whole "it's like riding a bike" idea made sense to me. Then I didn't draw anything for like five years. Picked up a pencil last month and it was brutal. My hand felt wrong, and my brain kept saying "house" but my lines were all wobbly. I literally struggled to draw a decent square. It's not just rust, it's like the connection between my head and my hand got disconnected. The skill isn't gone, but it feels like it's buried under a pile of other stuff.
