Finally got that stubborn panel on a 3rd floor walkup in Brooklyn
Had to run 75 feet of wire through a finished ceiling after the customer forgot to mention the basement was already drywalled, and somehow the zone light went green on the first try without any shorts.

75 feet through a finished ceiling in a 3rd floor walkup, that's a solid hour of fishing alone. I always carry a cheap stud finder with a wire detection setting for those moments when the customer says "oh yeah it's all open" and then you see drywall. Green light on the first zone is honestly better than finding a twenty on the ground, especially after that kind of run. Next time ask if they have any drop ceilings or basement access panels before you even start, saved me a headache last month on a similar job.

Ngl I used to think a stud finder was just overkill for fishing wires, just another thing to carry up stairs for no reason. But after a job where the customer said "open ceiling" and I found nothing but fireblocking and spray foam every three feet, I totally get it now. That cheap stud finder with wire detection would've saved me an hour of swearing and a drywall patch job I didn't bill for. Green light on the first zone sounds like a solid trade for a twenty in my pocket any day.

Man that green light on the first try is basically a miracle in our world, I half expect a fire alarm to go off every time I finish a panel. I've had customers swear up and down the walls are open and then I show up to a fully finished basement with no access, it's always something. At least you got the wire run without having to cut holes everywhere, that's a win in my book. I'd probably treat myself to a beer after that one, no question.
