I finally learned to stop cheaping out on backup batteries
Ngl, I tried saving $40 by buying those no-name lithium batteries off Amazon for a residential job last spring. Three months later, the system started beeping false alarms during a power flicker. Has anyone else had these generic brands fail when the grid actually dips?

My uncle bought a pallet of those generic backup units for his rental properties and had three of them catch fire in a storage closet six months later. Now I just pay the extra thirty bucks and stick with the name brand stuff.

wait hold up i gotta push back on this a little. those name brand batteries are seriously overpriced and the cheap ones work fine if you know what you're doing. the real issue is people buying random crap off Amazon without checking the specs or the seller. most of those no name listings are just rebranded cells from the same factories anyway. there's a middle ground between spending top dollar and getting complete garbage. you just gotta read reviews and stick to established budget brands that have been around for a minute. personally i've had great luck with a few generic brands for my own setup and they've outlasted some of the name brand ones i've had. but yeah the fire risk is real so i totally get sticking with the safe bet if you're not trying to hunt down reliable sellers.
