My install time on a 6-zone hardwired system dropped from 9 hours to under 5 after I started using a pre-terminated cable kit.
I used to hand-crimp every single RJ31X jack and it was a huge time sink, but the pre-made kit with labeled ends cut my labor in half for a job in Tempe last Tuesday, so what other specific time-saving tricks have you guys found for residential retrofits?

Got a little laser distance measurer for under fifty bucks and it changed everything for me. I used to write down numbers and mess up the math, but now I just point and shoot to get exact wire runs before I even pull out the spool. Saves a ton of guesswork and extra trips up and down the ladder.

Seems like a lot of fuss for just measuring some wire.

Remember when we had to use a tape measure for everything? My dad used to make me hold one end across the room while he yelled numbers. Honestly half the time we were just guessing after the tape snapped back. Those laser things sound like magic compared to that mess.

Ever measure wire like @kai_chen2's dad did?
