Noticed more folks skipping the cellular backup on installs lately

Last week I did three service calls in Denver where people had cellular backup but never tested it, and two of them had dead batteries from 2020. Has anyone else seen customers trying to save money by ditching the secondary path?

Yeah I had a client last year who bragged about saving $15 a month by dropping the cellular backup. Then a drunk driver took out the pole down the street and their whole system went dark for three days lol. They called me all panicked asking if I could fix it remotely and I was like nah man that's what the backup was for. Now they're paying for it again plus a premium for a rush install. The irony is the dead batteries thing is almost worse cause you think you're protected and you're not.

my dad actually did this exact thing last month. told me he was "future proofing" by cutting the cellular backup. @evan543 your story is basically what I'm bracing for when a squirrel takes out his neighborhood's transformer. guess the apple doesn't fall far from the idiot tree lol.

Wait, 2020? Those batteries would have been dead for almost 5 years? That's genuinely terrifying, they were basically running on nothing this whole time.
