Shoutout to the $15 zone tester that would've saved me a $300 callback in Fresno
I skipped the zone tester on a 12 zone panel swap in Fresno because I figured my multimeter was good enough, and a bad end of line resistor slipped past me. Customer called back two days later with a fault beeping at 2am, and the trip plus the part plus eating the labor ran me about $300. What cheap tool do you all keep in the van that has paid for itself over and over?
Funny how the cheap tool always seems expensive until the one time it isn't. Same thing happens with smoke detectors and spare keys, people skip the small cost and pay for it later at the worst time. Fifteen bucks to skip a 2am callback is about as easy a call as it gets.
