Spent 45 minutes troubleshooting a panel that wouldn't power up

Got a call last week to a new build in Arlington, VA. The DSC PowerSeries was dead on arrival - no lights, no beep. I spent a good 45 minutes checking voltage at the transformer, testing the battery, even swapped the main board. Turns out the builder's electrician had wired the outlet to a switch that was off. Felt pretty dumb after that. Anyone else get tripped up by something simple like that on a fresh install?

Wait... they wired an outlet to a light switch? That's bonkers... I mean, who does that in a new build? I'd be seeing red if I found out an electrician did that on a job I was finishing. You'd think they'd double check something like that before leaving the site for the day.

That's one of those moments where you just stand there staring at the switch like it personally insulted your whole family. At least we can laugh about it now, right?

Yeah, the "staring at the switch like it personally insulted your whole family" part got me. Used to think old wiring was fine but now I'm checking everything twice.
