Spent $80 on a good label maker and it saved me hours on a panel swap.
Had to replace a fried main board in a big house system last week. Every wire was tagged clearly, so the swap took half the time. What's your go-to for keeping a panel tidy?

My buddy's garage panel had a wire labeled "MSTR BATH" that turned out to be for the backyard shed pump. He spent a whole Saturday tracing that because the tape had curled up and the sharpie bled. A printed label would have saved him the sunburn.

My electrician buddy swears by a label maker for any panel work. He says the printed tags stay readable for years, unlike marker on tape that can fade. It seems like a small thing that really pays off later.

Honestly, is a label maker that big a deal? I just use a sharpie on some tape. Works fine for me.

My uncle's garage has a 1998 breaker panel labeled with that sharpie-on-tape method. You have to tilt your head and guess that "KCHN LTS" means kitchen lights. Meanwhile, the printed labels from his water softener install in 2005 are still crisp as day. That kind of thing makes me see the point, even if @rayadams has a system that works now. It's one of those things where the extra minute today saves you a headache in ten years when you're trying to remember what "BR 2 SW" actually controls.
