That Honeywell Vista panel I swore was bulletproof - just had 3 fail in a row
I've been installing Vista 20p panels for 10 years, never had an issue. Last month I put in 3 new ones from the same batch at a new construction site in Phoenix, and every single one had the keypad glitch out within 2 days. Called tech support and they confirmed a bad capacitor run on that serial range. Been pushing those panels forever but now I'm testing every single one on the bench before I go onsite. Anyone else run into this batch problem with Honeywell lately?

Hold up, is this really a widespread issue or just a weird batch? I mean, I've seen bad capacitor runs happen before, but three in a row from the same serial range sounds more like a fluke than a sign the panels are suddenly junk. Idk, maybe it's just me but I'd test a couple of my old stock before freaking out.

Used to think the capacitor thing was overblown, but this definitely changes my mind.

Wait has anyone checked if Phoenix humidity levels are messing with those caps before they even get installed? I know it's dry out there but the swing between 110 degree attics and AC cooled houses creates condensation inside the panels sometimes. Had a buddy in Tucson lose three boards that way before he started letting them sit in the garage for a day to acclimate, just something to think about.
