That master key switch threw a 12V surprise on me last Thursday

Had a lion-colored DSC panel start ghosting zones on a retrofit in Austin, traced it back to a corroded key switch that was leaking voltage to the common. Pulled it and jumped the terminals, system's been clean for 4 days now. Anyone else run into these old MR-16 switches acting up after a damp summer?

Yeah cause nothing says "permanent fix" like jumpering past the evidence with a wire that's probably older than the panel itself. If that switch was leaking 12V, I'd say you gave it a well earned retirement, not a band-aid. Four days clean is a good start, but I'd still start shopping for a replacement before that jumper develops its own personality.

Honestly, jumping the switch is just hiding the real problem, not fixing it.
