Why I stopped trusting the panel mount in the box after a crawl space job in Boise last month
Everyone says mount the panel right in the box and keep the wires tight. I did that for 6 years. Then last month in Boise I spent 3 hours on my back in a crawl space because a single Romex staple pinched a zone wire against a joist. The homeowner's cat had knocked the keypad off the wall, and I couldn't reach the panel to test anything without crawling 40 feet through insulation. Now I leave 18 inches of slack coiled at every device. Anyone else get burned by tight wiring in a tight spot?
