30 year old compressor finally failed, what a run

Pulled a 1989 Kenmore fridge from a rental in Fresno last week, compressor finally locked up after the owner said it never had a service call. I checked the start relay and it was original, no burnout, just worn winding insulation from decades of heat. Anyone else run into old compressors that last forever until they just stop, or do most of yours fail from electrical problems first?

I read somewhere those old round compressors just wear out from heat over time, no drama.
