Bought a universal washer door lock kit for $35 and it was junk

Had a Maytag front loader with a bad door lock, got a generic kit that claimed to fit everything. The plastic parts snapped on the second install attempt, so I wasted an hour and the cash. Do you guys ever use those universal parts or stick with OEM only?
