Debate: When do you call it on a tough diagnosis? I spent 4 hours on a fridge not cooling yesterday - turned out to be a bad start relay all along.
Lucky I didn't swap the compressor. Do you guys keep digging or throw in the towel after 2 hours?

The last time I fixed a fridge in 20 minutes, it was the door gasket, and the customer paid me in venison.

Four hours is a solid effort, but did you actually meter out the start relay before the compressor swap? Seeing that 3 ohm reading on the start winding would've saved you all that headache. Sometimes the cheapest part causes the most guessing, right?

Can't believe you'd skip metering the relay... that's like Rule Number One in my book. I've made that exact mistake before and it cost me a whole afternoon of backtracking. Yeah, the cheapest part always seems to be the one that gets overlooked until it's too late.
