Everyone swears by spraying contact cleaner on control boards, but a class in Wichita changed my mind
I sat in on a board-level repair class in Wichita back in March and the instructor pulled a control board off his bench that had been sprayed clean by three different techs, and the conformal coating was half gone with copper showing through. He said the spray pulls moisture into the board and you inherit the corroded traces 6 months later, so now I only use 91% isopropyl on a swab and a soft brush. What's your go-to on a greasy board, do you spray or swab it?
