Found a 20 year old service manual in a dryer today

I was swapping a drum bearing on a Whirlpool at a house in Mobile and found a handwritten service manual tucked behind the control panel from 2004. The customer said her dad was the original owner and he was a repairman who passed away. Has anyone else found weird stuff inside appliances that changed how you approach a job?

You ever find something that old just sitting there like that? Man, that is awesome. I once pulled an old fridge out of a flip house and found a whole stack of service notes taped to the side of the compressor from like 1998, all handwritten by some guy named Ray. The handwriting was so neat it looked typed, and he had sketched out the wiring diagram for that specific model by hand. I took a picture of it and still use it as a cheat sheet sometimes because those old diagrams are way easier to read than the grainy scans they send out now. It really does change how you look at a machine when you know someone else was in there before you, doing the same kind of work, probably thinking the same curse words.

Right? It's like finding a time capsule from some random coworker you never met.

You ever known a guy named Dave? He pulled an old washer from a curb and found a Polaroid taped inside with a note that said "this thing sucks, good luck." He kept it in his toolbox for years.
