Found a trick for getting stripped fridge door hinge screws out

Had a Samsung fridge last week where the bottom door hinge screws were completely stripped. Tried a screw extractor kit from Home Depot for $15 and it just made things worse. Then I remembered an old trick - I jammed a flathead screwdriver in there and tapped it with a hammer to create new threads. Worked on three out of four screws. Anyone else got a go-to method for stripped screws on fridges?

Yeah the hammer trick is hit or miss. You say "worked on three out of four" which kinda proves my point. That one screw you didn't get probably has the hinge all messed up now. I've seen people beat the hell out of fridge doors trying stuff like that. Flathead and hammer can work but it's risky if you're not careful. Why not just drill the screw head off and pull the hinge? Way less chance of cracking the plastic or denting the door.

Three out of four is 75%, but @morgan.jason, how do you know that one bad screw didn't already crack the plastic underneath?
