Just realized my torque screwdriver was way off by 5 pounds

I was working on a Whirlpool washing machine in Des Moines last week and kept stripping out the transmission bolts. Checked my torque screwdriver against a new one at the shop and it was reading 5 pounds too high. That thing has been messing up my work for months without me knowing. How often do you guys calibrate your tools?

Jenny198 is onto something with that 3 month check, this whole experience actually got me thinking about how we all just blindly trust our tools and appliances way more than we should in daily life. Doesn't it feel like everything eventually drifts out of whack without us noticing?

Set a calendar reminder on your phone so you don't forget (I learned that one the hard way).
