Remember when you had to pull the whole fridge out to check the condenser coil?

Back in the 90s, my boss made me move every single fridge to vacuum the coils from the back. It took half the day for a simple clean. Now, most models have a front access panel you can pop off in two minutes. I saved over an hour on a service call in Akron last Tuesday just because of that. Do you still run into many of those old rear-access units, or are they mostly gone now?

1998 Whirlpool" actually had a front panel, you just missed it.

You still find them in older apartments, like a mean little surprise. I nearly threw my back out last month on a 1998 Whirlpool that was wedged in tight. My own fault for not checking the model first, I guess. That front panel design is one of the few things that actually got better for our line of work. It turns a full-on wrestling match into a simple task.

Yeah, that "mean little surprise" feeling is the worst! It's like the appliance is fighting back.
