Showerthought: I heard a customer call a washing machine agitator a 'spinny laundry octopus' and now I can't unsee it.

It happened at a job in Boise last Tuesday, and honestly, that kind of creative misunderstanding makes explaining the actual repair process way more fun, so what's the silliest thing you've heard a customer call a part?

Oh man, that is a PERFECT name for it! I always just called it the agitator, but "spinny laundry octopus" is way better. I used to think customers mixing up names made things harder, but honestly, it makes the whole day more fun. My favorite was someone pointing at a car's alternator and calling it "the electricity hamster wheel.

Love the electricity hamster wheel. It proves people understand how things work better than they know the right words. That kind of creativity beats a boring old manual any day.

What about calling a carburetor the engine's coffee maker?
