That one customer who tipped me with a homemade pie in 2018

I was fixing a busted ice maker in a house near Portland, and this elderly lady named Ruth brought me a warm apple pie fresh from her oven. She said 'you fixed my fridge, so I fixed your dinner,' and I still remember how good that crust tasted. Do any of you ever get paid with something other than cash or check?

Ruth? 2018? That pie's gotta be like 6 years old by now. Wait, you actually ate it that day right? Good thing you didn't save it or anything. My buddy got paid with a jar of pickles once for fixing a lawnmower, but that was fresh. Homemade pie though, that's a whole different level of trust.

Trust your gut with homemade stuff, if it's hot and fresh, eat it fast, don't save it.

Yeah, no kidding... homemade stuff is a whole different ballgame. You can't just let it sit around like you would with store bought food. If it's hot and fresh, you gotta eat it right then or it's just asking for trouble. I've learned that lesson the hard way way too many times.
