Tried a cheap multimeter vs a Fluke on a fridge compressor call
The $20 one gave me a false open reading but the Fluke caught the real partial short, has anyone else had that scare with cheap meters?

My $15 meter said a toaster was dead, but I just hadn't plugged it in.

That's a bold move blaming the toaster for user error. Bet it's still under warranty though.

Maybe the meter just wasn't plugged in either.
