Unpopular opinion: I stopped taking every call that rolls in after midnight

Last month in Phoenix I got a call at 2AM for a fridge that wasn't making ice. Drove 25 miles one way only to find the water line was just kinked behind the unit. The guy could have waited till morning. Now I route all after-hours calls to voicemail and respond at 7AM. Anyone else set a hard cut-off time for emergency calls?

Hang on though, that call was at 2AM and the guy had a kinked water line. Thats not really an emergency, its more of a tomorrow problem. Calling a fridge repair at 2AM for something like that is kinda wild.

Is it possible he called that late because his kid has a feeding tube that needs the fridge to keep meds cold?

Exactly, "hang on though" sums it up perfectly. People forget that not every broken fridge at 2AM is a life or death thing, but it shows how we treat everything like an emergency now lol.
