Vent: lost a dishwasher job in Mesa because the shutoff valve crumbled in my hand
Was at a rental in Mesa last Wednesday, kitchen was 92 degrees, and the cold water shutoff under the sink snapped clean off when I gave it a quarter turn. Water everywhere, tenant screaming, and I had to run out to the street and kill the main. Lost two hours and the landlord tried to blame me for a valve that was older than my truck. Now I carry a valve wrench and a spare 3/8 compression fitting on every call, no exceptions, but what do you guys do when the shutoff is already junk before you even touch it?
A quarter turn is all it took? That valve was just waiting to blow, and of course the landlord pointed the finger at you. Mesa rentals are the worst for stuff like that, nobody ever swaps out a shutoff until it's already gone.
