Worst Wednesday ever - blew a compressor in a walk-in at a restaurant downtown

I had a day last month that almost made me quit... was working on a True reach-in at Luigi's Pizza on 5th Street and the compressor went up in smoke when I tried to test the new start relay. Took me 3 hours to find a replacement and the owner was breathing down my neck the whole time. Has anyone else had a job just go completely sideways like that with a customer watching?

Honestly, watch out for those True units in tight kitchens. I've seen more than a few blow compressors under heavy loads. The owner hovering just makes everything worse, adds so much pressure. Ngl, that pizza place guy sounds like a nightmare to work with. Tbh, these jobs go sideways when you can't even get a minute to think without someone breathing down your neck.

Totally agree, I had a True reach-in blow up on me at a pizza place and the owner wouldn't stop hovering the whole time.

Used to think those True units were bulletproof... had a couple buddies swear by them. Then I helped a buddy with a service call at a burger joint, same model, and the compressor just gave out mid-cool down. Owner was right there breathing down our necks, checking every move... changed my whole view on those things. They're good for some setups but not worth the hassle in a busy kitchen where you can't afford downtime.
