Checked the same oak twice in one week, the cambium said everything

First pass on Monday the bark looked fine, but by Friday that same section was peeling and the wood underneath had that sour smell. We had a 40 mph gust come through Wednesday night, so maybe it was already cracked inside, but has anyone else seen cankers move that fast after a storm?

Wednesday night that gust probably didn't do it, check if the bark has tiny pencil-sized holes lower down, that's often borer larva tunneling from last summer and the storm just ripened the split.
