Just realized my new bucket truck makes my old climbing lines nearly useless

Been running the same static lines for 5 years on a 60 foot crane setup. Picked up a 2019 bucket truck last month for a big job in Portland. First time up, my friction hitch was fine but my throw line setup was a joke. The bucket sits 80 feet up and my old 150 foot line kept snagging on lower branches. Had to re-rig three times before I got it right. Switched to a shorter 100 foot line with a heavier bag and it changed everything. Anyone else switch platforms and have to rework their whole kit?

You rarely think about how your gear has to match the job until it just doesnt. Getting a different tool means everything else has to shift around it, same way switching to a new phone messes up all your old chargers. Sounds simple but it hits you right in the wallet and the patience. Once you figure out the right length and weight, it feels obvious in hindsight but you had to waste a whole afternoon to learn it. That's just how it goes with any upgrade though, you trade one set of problems for a slightly better set. Just glad you got it sorted before the Portland job really got rolling.
