Nearly dropped a 60 foot limb on my own truck because I forgot to check the wind direction first
Standing in a backyard in Austin last Tuesday, I set up my rigging perfectly only to have a gust swing the whole thing sideways and almost take out my F-150, has anyone else had a close call like that where you just stood there thinking about how stupid you were?

600+ pounds of limb coming down sounds rough but I've seen guys drop way bigger stuff without a scratch on their truck so it really depends on how you set up. You're acting like it was a near death experience but the main victim here was your pride and maybe a close call with your tailgate. Calm down, we all do dumb stuff with chainsaws and gravity it's part of the job.

Did you check the weather app before starting? I read somewhere that Austin has been getting weird random gusts from the south lately, even when the forecast says calm.

I mean, maybe the weather app isn't the best way to judge what's happening right above your head in real time. Idk, trusting an app over your own eyes is kinda what gets people in trouble in the first place.
