Spent 3 seasons topping trees at the wrong cut angle until my old foreman pointed at a stub in my own yard
I'd been cutting flush to the trunk for 9 seasons because that's how my first crew did it, always chasing that clean look. Then last Tuesday in Eugene I watched decay creep into a maple I'd trimmed 4 seasons back, and it finally clicked that the branch collar is there for a reason. Anyone else make the switch to proper collar cuts and see a real difference in how fast the wound closes?
