Tried using a regular handsaw versus a proper pruning saw on a big maple branch

The handsaw took forever and kept binding, but the pruning saw with its curved blade and aggressive teeth zipped right through in maybe two minutes. Anyone have a favorite brand for those curved saws?

Yeah, that curved blade is a total game changer for not binding up. I've found the ones with a little bit of a pistol grip handle make it even easier to put some weight behind the cut without your hand slipping. Makes a tough job way less of a fight, lol.

Two minutes? That seems way too fast for a big maple branch.

Remember that huge limb that came down in the ice storm last year, @angelam80? I tried cutting it with my old straight saw and it just pinched shut, stuck fast. Had to get the neighbor with his bow saw to finish it. The curve on those blades really does make all the difference, lets the saw kind of roll through the cut instead of getting grabbed. I was totally skeptical until I saw it work. Makes a job that feels impossible actually doable.
