Looking at dig site records from the 80s shows a clear shift

I found some field notes from an old Mesopotamia project in my uncle's attic. Everything was drawn by hand on paper, but now teams use digital scans and apps. Do you miss the slower, hands-on way of doing things, or is the new tech just better?

Paper notes rot and ink fades, so digital's better for saving what those old records actually say. We might miss the feel of paper, but losing the info would be worse.

Wait, ink fades that fast? I always thought that stuff lasted forever... guess my old journals are in trouble.

Nah, my grandma's letters from the 50s are still totally clear. I worry more about hard drives dying than paper rotting.

Exactly! My old letters prove lunaf16's point, some ink just vanishes.
