Stuck two weekends on a flint chip that should have taken a day
I found a small flint flake near a creek bed in Boone, North Carolina and spent eight hours just trying to figure out if it was humanly struck or just natural breakage. My local museum guy finally said it was a "waste flake" and probably nothing, but the process of comparing micro-fractures with online photos was brutal. Anyone else get tunnel vision on a find that turns out to be boring?

Waste flake" is basically my middle name at this point, I've spent whole weekends convincing myself a random rock was a spearhead. My record is three days on a piece of quartz that turned out to be a driveway chip.
