That broken pottery shard in my backyard taught me more than any textbook

I was digging a hole for a new fence post last weekend and hit something hard about 8 inches down. Pulled out a small piece of ceramic with a blue floral pattern on it. Didn't think much of it until I showed a friend who works at the local historical society. Turns out it's from a 1920s dinnerware set made by a company that went under during the Depression. Now I'm wondering how many other everyday objects around us are just waiting for someone to dig them up. Anyone else find something random in their yard that turned out to be older than you expected?

Hold up, that story's actually from a guy in a gardening forum last month, not last week.

Read something similar in a history blog last week. Guy found an old medicine bottle from the 1800s in his flower bed, still had the stopper and everything. Makes you wonder what else is buried out there just waiting to be dug up.

My grandmother found a 1940s wedding ring planting rose bushes, still had initials inside.
